Iohannes Arrives With His Cape Intact | Elf on the Shelf

Elf on the Shelf is a fun-filled Christmas Tradition for children everywhere. Children welcome one of Santa’s Elves in their home during each each holiday season.

We are entering year number four for our little buddy, Elf on the Shelf, visiting us each December. The first year he arrived via the mail for a dear loved one who sent the little guy to our home for the children to enjoy {any myself as well}. The first year, I was not very inventive at all and forgot to move him quite often. I would sit up in bed in the middle of the night quite often suddenly recalling I had yet to move "Elfie" as the children called him the first year.

The second year, I did a bit better and between my husband and I we were able to move The Elf each night in the month of December. But again, we didn't do anything special and would simply plop the Elfie wherever he looked good.

Last year, the children renamed Elfie to Remus {we had been studying the legend of Remus and Romulus the previous week in school}. I was much more inventive with the tricks the Elf on the Shelf last year thanks to Flickr and blogs.

This year I discovered Elf on the Shelf on Pinterest and have been having so mych fun pouring over all the boards of the hilarious antics of Elf on the Shelf. Remus was quickly renamed to Iohannes this year . . . we are studying hard in Latin this year and Iohannes is one of the main characters in our lessons each week. {Iohannes=John}

Iohannes arrived on the morning of December 1st and was perched on his book for the children to read and explore again. He was still wearing his lovely red cape as it is very cold in the North Pole.
