My CoverGirl Haul

A couple of weeks ago I was able to visit a lovely Kroger grocery store in my area (actually the name of the store was Hilander, a division of Kroger). The store is not actually my normal store that I would visit, but it is my brother's local grocer. I was able to visit my brother and go shopping for CoverGirl makeup.

I was excited to see what was out there on the CoverGirl shelves and see what items were available. I was even more excited to see big sale signs on CoverGril! I'm sure most women are like me and we tend to continually purchase the same exact makeup over and over and over again. (or perhaps I am the only one who does this?)

I really wanted to try some new foundation since what I am currently using is not really 'working' for me these days. As I age (a young 43 years old I guess right??) the skin on my face is just simply not the same as a fresh faced 20 something that I used to be. Thus, I need a different foundation. There were a number of choices, but I decided to go with the CoverGirl and Olay Simply Ageless Foundation.  The foundation was not sticky and went on my skin quite smoothly. It did not leave any streaks, settle into my smile wrinkles or pores and lasted all day long. I was very happen with the results.

The blush that I choose was TruBlend Minerals Blush. I am actually addicted to this blush now! My skin is very pale and TrueBlend Minerals Blush is perfect for me. Once applied, I have such a natural look to my cheeks now, not the least bit overwhelming. I love the light sparkle across my cheek bones now. I actually apply this to my breast bones now to give my upper chest a bit of a shimmer in these summer months.

The classic eyeliner is always my first choice. I don't go for liquid liners, they tend to make my eyes very itchy, so I prefer a pencil. Perfect Blend Eyeliner Charcoal is just that, perfect! The pencil itself is very gentle on my eyelids. It does not pull at my skin in any manner. I can apply the pencil to either have a thin line or a thick line and the smudger is perfect for lower lids when I want a smoky look to my eyes. The point that I love the most is this eyeliner is water resistant. I have one eye that tends to tear a lot and most makeup would be gone is a few hours. Not so with this lovely Perfect Blend Eyeliner pencil!

I usually always wear a neutral eye shadow. I wish I could break out of this mold. I perused the beautiful colors that CoverGirl had to offer, but I stuck with my basic taupe (I'm such a chicken). However, CoverGirl has loads and loads of beautiful tans, browns, taupe, beige and chocolates to keep me happy for years! What I really like about the color palette that I usually choose is I can wear the colors lightly during the day and just simply add a heavier application of the eye shadow for the evening. I like to take the darker colors and sweep a line of eye shadow under my eye liner on my lower brow. I love this look! Eye Enhancers Shadows were easy to apply, didn't crease or smudge (and I have three little ones touching my face all day long too) and I was really happy with my color choice.

I have used the same exact mascara for (literally) about 10 years. I have short eyelashes and very sensitive eyes. I was a bit nervous about trying a new mascara, but excited to venture out of my little circle of cosmetic comfort zone. I purchased the LashBlast Length Mascara from CoverGirl in Black. The brush on this wand was quite unique, very flexible and very easy to use. This mascara separated my lashes (a plus for my short little lashes) and lengthened them. After hours of wearing I did not have any flaking or clumping. I have not had any reactions to the switch and LashBlast has now become my everyday mascara.

My CoverGirl Shopping Haul was a huge success! I ventured out of my cosmetics comfort zone and was able to find some new favorites!
