Where did October go?
We have had a few beautiful days this past week and I took the kiddos to one of our favorite locations to feed the ducks and exploring along the creek. We were stomping around in the mud for a couple of hours and they were so mad at me when I declared that it was time to go. At the end of the trail we came upon a group of deer and I thought for sure they would bolt away. To my children's delight, they were able to pet the deer. The deer were even happy to lick away at their hands! It was hard to capture some photos because the deer were very skittish of the clicking of my camera.

How Was your Weekend?

This past weekend my family and I took a driving trip to Iowa to visit my little brother and his family for their Homecoming celebration in their home town. My kiddos had only been to one high school football game a couple of years ago and didn't really have a clue what to expect. My brother was so excited we were in town to celebrate Homecoming with him. My baby brother actually told me he was so happy I came back because we had not watched football together in over 20 years!

The kiddos were so excited to have their faces painted and my son even let his cousin's pals  spray paint his hair. His cousin's friends were very impressed with the fact that my son is homeschooled. I even over heard "I give you mad props dude". So that made me happy my son didn't have to be embarrassed or explain what homeschooling was all about!

The evening game was great and cold. Very, very cold. We literally froze our bums off!

Walk It Like You Talk It

When my children came into this world, they were born with a blank slate. They are being shaped by what they hear, what they see and what they are taught. I try to be careful about what I say around them and how I act. I hope I am teaching them good morals, beliefs and values.

One big rule that is coming up everyday in our house is respect. Teaching respect is not an easy task in a house with more than one child. My older children are a bit jealous of my little one {claiming she is the favorite of the family} and my little one has very little patience for her older siblings if they don't do her biding.

Sunday News
Sunset I finally conceded and let my husband purchase a small pool for the children for the backyard. I am incredibly neurotic about the kiddos and water and drowning and dry drowning. I tend to freak myself out a bit whenever I see the children choking. The kiddos have begged for a pool for years and after a day at the local swimming pool of getting splashed in the face about 17,000 times by other children, I agreed. Swimming at sunset, who it could be so much fun.

Less Stress . . . More Happiness . . .

Things are starting to wind down here around the Tantrum's house.

I had such a lovely day for Mother's Day, I simply have to share. My children gave me strict instructions the night prior that I was not to get up out of bed as they were making me breakfast and serving it to me in bed. They let me know I could sleep as late as I wanted to. I tried, I really did, but when you have three little ones who are so full of barely contained excitement who keep coming in to see if you are still sleeping . . . well, you don't really get to sleep late. I received so many extra hugs in bed that morning and they were each all so very special. Needless to say, I can downstairs to a lovely breakfast!
